Meet Your Administration

Principal: Mrs. Audrey Guerrero

Dear Lasley Families,

My name is Audrey Guerrero and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Lasley Elementary. I am honored to have been selected to join Jeffco Schools, which is known far and wide for its dedication to innovation, academic excellence, and most importantly, to children. This year I will spend a lot of time getting to know your children, celebrating them, and making sure they feel loved, supported, safe, and encouraged at school.

I strongly believe parents are their child’s first teacher and know them better than anyone. It truly does take a village, so I am looking very forward to the work we will do together. I am excited to share the wonderful things we are doing at Lasley as we progress through the school year.

I come to Lasley with over 20 years of experience in the field of education. I served as a bilingual assistant to teachers in Indianapolis Public Schools, a dual language teacher in Austin, Texas, a trainer of teachers for the prestigious New Teacher Project out of New York, and will be entering into my 4th year as an administrator. I attended IUPUI in Indianapolis for my undergraduate degree in Public Affairs, and the University of Texas at Austin for Educational Leadership. I most recently served in Adams 12 Five Star Schools as assistant principal at Centennial Elementary before accepting the principalship at Lasley. My greatest achievement, however, comes personally, not professionally, as I am the proud mom of three very cute kids: Eli, Lucía, and Ana Sofía. My husband Rudy and I take pride in being a bilingual family.

Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to be part of the Lasley family. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children. Please stop by and say hello if we haven’t met!

Warm Regards,

Audrey Guerrero
Lasley Elementary Principal

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!  It is truly an honor to serve as Lasley's assistant principal and I'm looking forward to closely partnering with you. I believe that every child has special strengths and talents, and have dedicated my life to working with children and their families to better develop each child's unique strengths and talents.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina as a biology major with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa, I gained admittance to some of our Nation's most prestigious and competitive medical schools (MD programs); yet, my real passion involves using educational and psychological principles to create individualized action plans to best help in the academic and social development of children.

Over the past 20 years, I've received top accolades for working with with elementary through university level children and adults as a(n): administrator, elementary school teacher, high school (chemistry, biology, and physics) teacher, doctor in psychology, affiliate professor of psychology/mental health consultant at Metropolitan State University of Denver, and clinical therapist.

In addition to working for Jefferson County Public Schools I am a(n): active member of the psychology faculty at Metropolitan State University of Denver as a(n) affiliate psychology professor specializing in Human Development/ Death and Dying/Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology and am an evening/weekend clinical therapist conducting both individual and group psychotherapy to help Denver area residents reach their highest potential and overcome social, psychological, and emotional difficulties.

My wife is my best friend, and she is an elementary school teacher in the public schools. We are blessed to have a beautiful 5 year old daughter. We are huge animal lovers and have adopted 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 cockatiels. I'm happy to say that all of our four legged and feathered family members are rescues from over-crowded animal shelters. I look forward to working with you and your child. It is truly an exciting time to be part of the Lasley community!

It is an honor to be a part of the incredible Lasley community. Growing up in Lakewood I attended Jeffco schools and received an undergraduate degree at University of Colorado. Later on, after having two boys I returned to school, received my Masters in Education and began my teaching career in the Adams-Mapleton school district as a fourth grade teacher. I came to Lasley fourteen years ago and taught both 1st and 2nd grades. Returning to school once more, I received my Type D principal’s certification and had the opportunity to work in other Jeffco Schools.

I value the diversity of the Lasley community and working with students, teachers and families to create a positive school culture of continuous learning. My door is always open and I welcome all parents, families and students to stop by and see me with any concerns or ideas.
